Health Technology Assessment

HTA is a process which informs health policymakers by using the best scientific evidence on the medical, social, economic and ethical implications of investments in health care. The White Rose Health Innovation Partnership is supporting the development of a range of study materials which address the need to support SMEs in this complex area.

The study materials will provide guidelines on the use of HTA at different points on the product-development pathway for a medical device company. A 'methodology module' will be developed covering the theoretical aspects of HTA, while a 'country module' will cover the variation in HTA submission requirements in major markets across Europe, North America and Australia.

The modules will include case studies on how to carry out an HTA in different areas of product development, and will form part of a continuing professional development course.
