This exciting project is a true example of open innovation and was initiated at the orthopaedics workshop, where Specialist Orthopaedic Nurse Helena Miles and Orthopaedic Matron Christine Wardman, from Bradford NHS Trust, identified a clinical need for a simple, cost effective way to monitor patient rehabilitation, following orthopaedic surgery. During and since the meeting a new multi-disciplinary collaborative group has been brought together to develop a solution. Helena, Christine and Angela Grange from Bradford NHS Trust will provide the end user specifications. Engineering expertise is brought to the project from Dr Frank Podd and Dr Pete Twigg from the University of Bradford and Wayne Gardner from Bradford NHS Trust.
