Prof Gary Green of the University of York is working with Bill Hunter of the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Spectra Gas Ltd on this highly innovative project to study established methods of hyperpolarisation which can be practically exploited in real applications of clinical relevance including diagnosing metabolic diseases in oncology, cardiology and neurology. The newly validated and improved contrast agents will be subsequently tested in clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The method does not use radiation, has high spatial resolution and allows repeated observations to be made in any clinical MRI scanner. |
