Currently there is no test for determining whether a pregnancy could result in the highly dangerous condition of preeclampsia. The only treatment for preeclampsia is to deliver the baby, which results in premature deliveries. Dr Julie Fisher and her group have identified biomarkers of this condition. The project will enable over 1000 blood/plasma samples to be collected from pregnant women, testing of the samples and the development of a diagnostic (time of disease) and predictive (before disease) test kit.
