Dr Alison Marshall, Dr Joan Ransley and James Thomas from Leeds University, along with O2 and Rinicom Ltd, are using a Smartphone and the DANTE database to enable people with chronic disease to manage their lifestyles, whilst being remotely monitored by a healthcare professional. As an example teenagers with obesity can self manage their condition through a 'diet diary'. The results are instantly available to clinicians via a web interface and the teenagers can view the data through a personalised webpage. This project will result in further R&D contracts and several future licenses as new related software programs for the phone are developed to enable further monitoring of chronic disease.
