The diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease is not reliable and symptoms can get mistaken for other neurodegenerative diseases, or even go undiagnosed. This project, led by Dr Stephen Smith from the University of York, has created software which uses a simple digitizing tablet to measure the tremor and hesitation of patients. A clinical trial will be carried out with neurologists and physicians at Leeds and Liverpool NHS Trusts to evaluate the device effectiveness. Such an approach will ultimately assist both in diagnosis and management of patients with Parkinson's Disease.
