China represents a huge opportunity in healthcare innovation, in resource, ideas as well as in the size of its market. Yet initiating positive collaborations with China, progressing projects, managing IP and actually selling to China can often be a frustrating and time-consuming experience.

Delegates who attend the workshop will have the opportunity to learn from professionals who are successfully collaborating with China, to meet Chinese and UK personnel engaged in promoting collaboration in healthcare, as well as getting to know organisations which can provide practical help.

The workshop will cover three main areas:

• Establishing collaborations and partnerships in China. What opportunities are there (e.g. academia, science and technology, outsourcing), who to approach, how to approach them (including cultural perspectives) and tips towards successfully reaching formal and informal agreement to work together.
• Managing projects with China. How to access funding support. How to ensure projects progress according to plan. Tips on maintaining confidentiality and managing security of IP.
• Selling to China healthcare markets. How the market is structured, differences between UK and Chinese medicine, how healthcare is delivered, who the decision makers are, how decisions get made, how to promote healthcare products and services.
